the poverty issue

Some GREAT reading in the blogsphere these days, about topics dear to my heart. Especially right now as we are squeezing the suitcases to the limit, and trying to carry over some items that are not just "junk". Trying more so to invest in the lives of people, such as Bette who I mentioned last week.

What items are of most value? Many things can be purchased over there but how much money can we give? Who will we give it to, and how will that be helpful. Still struggling with the same issues over more than a decade.

In the meantime, A HUGE shout out to the 5 people that have offered support for Bette and her mom, to keep living and to be educated! I know that we have made a difference for one child, for sure. And maybe even four more but I will have to ask them after I return home. Right now they are pretty choked that they are not going along to ETH. Well, that is until they saw the bruise from my yellowfever VAC. Good thing that one lasts for 10 yrs, I don't recommend it!!!

It is not too late if you want to sponsor Bette for a month, let me know.

I haven't talked to you or come here in forever!!! I'm trying to understand this post- did you go back for a visit/trip? With the family? I'd love to hear about it! Are you coming to Winkler this summer?
